Diesel rocks!
Why, you ask? There are many reasons: longer-lasting, efficient, powerful, and environmental - to name a few. Modern diesels out-perform similar gas engines in every category! Even emissions! Here is a good video about the new Honda Diesel:
In fact, since to introduction of ultra low-sulfur diesel fuel in 2007 diesel emissions of hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen, and particulate matter have been reduced to near-zero levels!
Not only are emissions low, so is fuel consumption. The average diesel burns 40% less fuel than it's gasoline equivalent. So for every 10 gallons of gas you use, someone with a diesel is only using six.
A diesel engine will outlast a gas engine, period. Mile after mile diesels run smooth and with fewer parts than gas engines there is less parts to wear out.
Power, lots of power. Big highway trucks and ships use diesels because of the massive amounts of torque that they produce.
America will see more and more diesels hit the market in the next few years, and that is a good thing!
